Tubes

Kole had tubes put into his ears this morning. It is a very easy and quick procedure, however, because he does get put under they consider it a surgery. They go in age order so Kole was the first one scheduled for the day. Here is a play by play of our morning...
---
We had to be at the hospital at 6:30 a.m. so here we are leaving the house around 6:15 this morning.
He is always so happy to get up and start the day. If he only knew what was coming.
We were called back a little before 7 to start getting him ready. He got to wear this super cute looney tunes smock. With the bracelet around his wrist he looks officially like a patient. They gave him this really cute little hat he had to wear but of course he wouldn't keep it on so we weren't able to catch a picture with it. It looked like a French beret or an artitst hat.

Kent and I went back out to the waiting room around 7:30 or so and we were called back to the recovery room a little before 8. The doctor came out around 7:45 to tell us all went well, we just had to wait for him to wake up in the recovery room. He was definitely out of sorts when we got back there. He was just scared as he was with a nurse he obviously didn't know and he woke up in a strange place. Eventually he calmed down when they gave him a sippy cup.

We were so proud of our little man. He was definitely a little trooper today.

When we got home, around 8:30 or so, Kole was extremely thirsty and hungry as he could not have anything before the surgery. He ate three bowls of applesauce, a ton of yogurt melts and another sippy cup full of juice. Afterwards he starting playing like nothing had ever happened. Here he is around 9 this morning, less than two hours after the surgery. His cute little smile is back on his face and he was ready to shoot some hoops.

The rest of the day seemed like any normal day. The hard part is that Kole needs three drops in each ear three times a day for the next four days. He is supposed to sit still on each side for two to three minutes, yeah right! Now we just pray that the tubes will stay in for at least a year and do their job.
